Hannah Cohen (born October 25, 1986), is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in San Francisco and comes from a family of poets, ministers, musicians, broadcasters and booksellers. Her grandfather, Bertie Rodgers, was a poet, BBC broadcaster and good friend of Dylan Thomas. Her father is the west coast Jazz drummer Myron Cohen.
Hannah's debut record, Child Bride, was produced by Thomas Bartlett, aka Doveman, known for his keyboard work with artists like The National, Martha Wainwright, and Antony and the Johnsons, and also producer of upcoming records by Glen Hansard and Julia Stone. Drawn from Hannah and Thomas's mutual friends, the core band is a small group of some of New York musicians, including Sam Amidon, Rob Moose (Bon Iver, Antony and the Johnsons), Brad Albetta (producer for Martha Wainwright and Teddy Thompson), Doug Wieselman (Laurie Anderson, the Lounge Lizards), and Kenny Wollesen (John Zorn, Bill Frisell). Their sessions together were recorded by engineer Patrick Dillett, equally known as a producer for David Byrne and Arto Lindsay. Child Bride was released by Bella Union on April 23, 2012. On August 15th, 2011, NOWNESS released a video directed by Matthu Placek for the debut single, "Child Bride".
