LOS ANGELES – Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the wildly popular symphonic rock juggernaut, is expanding its third album, Beethoven’s Last Night, as a two-disc deluxe edition. Originally released in 2000, the album was the group’s third rock opera, and its first non-holiday themed album. BEETHOVEN’S LAST NIGHT: THE COMPLETE NARRATED VERSION includes all of the music from the original release and, for the first time, the narration featured during live performances of the album. It comes packaged with a booklet filled with illustrations of the story, plus the full lyrics and narration.
The group will perform Beethoven’s Last Night during Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s upcoming Spring Tour, which runs March 3 to May 13 and includes stops in 60 markets. Among the most popular live acts of the past decade, the group is known for its signature brand of “Rock Theater,” an unforgettable concert experience that combines virtuoso musicianship and evocative storytelling with over-the-top production.
Certified gold by the RIAA, Beethoven’s Last Night is a rock opera that recounts the fictional tale of how, on the last night of his life, Ludwig van Beethoven (aided by Fate and her son Twist) unwittingly tricked Mephistopheles and was allowed to keep his soul. During live performances of the album, Trans-Siberian Orchestra added sections of narration between each song to better tell the story. BEETHOVEN’S LAST NIGHT: THE COMPLETE NARRATED VERSION includes this previously unavailable narration, performed by Bryan Hicks, whose brilliant story-telling has been captured for the first time on disc.
