Five More Unreleased Live Shows

We figured it was time to update our Richard Thompson Five Live Box Series, which kicked off a few years ago, so here’s another round of great sounding live shows. All are excellent and none have ever been commercially released. There may be some errant sound issues here and there, but overall, you should be pleased. The 1989 Pittsburgh acoustic show was recorded via the guitar & mic monitors, so you won’t hear much in the way of crowd response, while the rousing 1996 Richard Thompson Band show at the Aptos Village Park (a.k.a. Fat Fry) is a pre-FM recording of a show that would be broadcast on KPIG, KFJC and the web. The Sausalito show, a duo performance with bassist Danny Thompson, broadcast live on KFOG, has a little too much audience ambiance, but it’s not bad. You’ll note that the Early Show at The Palm Playhouse has had a couple of tracks doctored with an alternate audience tape to fix some imperfections (courtesy of T.U.B.E.’s The Edge), but it all sounds great.
