Post Description

John Fogerty
The El Rey,
Los Angeles, CA
May 28, 2013.
Good to very good audience.

To launch his new album, Wrote A Song For Everyone, a re-look at his songs with new guest artistes, former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty played a gig in Los Angeles on May 28, 2013. The show also celebrated Fogerty’s 68th birthday.

George Varga wrote at utsandiego.com:

“I have an album that’s been released today, and a birthday. It’s like having a birthday and having a baby, all on the same day!” Fogerty, who was born in 1945, poked fun at his age.

“Today, I’m 68 years old, and I feel really good,” he said. “I’m almost out of my ‘awkward 60s,’ which came after my ‘awkward 50s,’ ‘awkward 40s and really ‘awkward 30s.’ My new album is called: ‘It’s All Over!’ “

All joshing aside, Fogerty rocked with characteristic fervor for much of his 23-song, nearly two-hour set. He sang and played guitar with fervor and infectious enthusiasm…

Performing with a five-man, two-woman band that included his young sons, Shane and Tyler, on guitars and periodic backing vocals, Fogerty never rested on his formidable laurels Tuesday. He sounded as engaged and committed performing new songs, including “Mystic Highway” and the epic “Train of Fools,” as he did on such Creedence staples as “Born on the Bayou” and “Bad Moon Rising,” and to such post-Creedence solo gems as “Almost Saturday Night” and “Hot Rod Heart.”

The audience, which included at least one devotee who had flown in from Finland to attend, sang “Happy Birthday” to Fogerty after his wife, Julie, and daughter Kelsy, 11, brought a cake on stage to him. He later dedicated the heartfelt love song “Joy of My Life” to Julie, who he credited with helping bring him out of a long personal and professional funk after they met more than 25 years ago.

Thanks to BLG who recorded the show and sharing. BLD added: “I would not call this the best recording I’ve ever done, but it came out much better than I expected.” No one will be disappointed with this.
