In de nabije toekomst is The Running Man de best bekeken serie op televisie ÔÇô een dodelijke competitie waarbij deelnemers,
bekend als Runners, 30 dagen moeten overleven terwijl ze worden opgejaagd door professionele huurmoordenaars.
Elke beweging wordt uitgezonden voor een bloeddorstig publiek en elke dag levert een grotere geldprijs op.
Wanhopig om zijn zieke dochter te redden, wordt de arbeidersklasse-aanhanger Ben Richards door de charmante maar meedogenloze producer van de serie, Dan Killian, overgehaald om als laatste redmiddel mee te doen.
Maar Bens verzet, instincten en doorzettingsvermogen maken hem tot een onverwachte favoriet bij de fans ÔÇô en een bedreiging voor het hele systeem.
