Post Description
There is no place in Canada more famous than Canadian Pacific's Kicking Horse Pass. This vital link in the transcontinental route was originally a brutal 4.5% grade until the famous Spiral Tunnels lowered the gradient to a more manageable 2%. We take you to this Rocky Mountain paradise in our program and show you the route from Golden, British Columbia to the Bow River Valley in Alberta east of Lake Louise. Included are heavy mixed freight trains and unit coal trains, leased diesel power, and new CP power.
You'll enjoy the stunning scenery throughout the Kicking Horse Canyon from Golden to Field, where engine crews are changed. Then the big climb begins, including two spiral tunnels and the cresting of the summit at the Continental Divide. Watch 3 sections of the same train moving at the Spiral tunnel, and enjoy beautiful snowcapped Rocky Mountain Scenery. Informative narration
