Met een kleine 20 hitsingles waarvan er 8 de top 10 haalden behoort Level 42 tot één van de meest succesvolle en iconische band van de jaren ’80. Hun cross-over tussen funk, jazz en dansbare pop zorgden voor de verkoop van miljoenen albums, met als absoluut hoogtepunt het album Running In The Family uit 1987, waarvan alle 5 de singles de top 10 haalden.

Naast de vele hits was Level 42 ook trendsettend met in 12” remixen, wat een cultuur op zich werd in de jaren ‘80. Op CD3 van deze set zijn dan ook hun meest essentiële 12” remixen samengebracht, waaronder diverse remixen van de hand van Shep Pettibone.

Level 42 Collected is samengesteld in nauwe samenwerking met zanger/bassist Mark King en (voormalig) drummer Phil Gould.
