Post Description
Bona Fide follows up their 1999 Royal Function album with The Poe House, an equally impressive album. If Royal Function didn't convince you that Bona Fide is one of the best contemporary jazz groups of the late '90s/early 2000s, The Poe House should -- the group's talent is in great evidence here. However, Bona Fide's emphasis on sounding fresh often keeps this album from being as good as it probably should. The band is often more concerned with style than music, and while that emphasis has helped make Bona Fide better known, it also holds back the group's music. ~ Jason Birchmeier
