The new album ‘Taylor Road’ is released on the 16th January 2015 by Black Penny Records. The album contains 11 brand new songs written by Kris Pohlmann and includes the new single ‘One Good Reason’. The album sees Kris revisit the place where his musical journey began.
Kris Pohlmann concerts are a guarantee for explosive blues-rock. The young musicians Dennis Bowens (Bass) and David Venrath (Drums) help Kris bring his vision of blues and rock to the stage: riff oriented rock music, heavy, intense and drenched in the blues.

Kris, who was born in England, has played guitar since he was 13. His 2 albums “New Resolution” and “One For Sorrow” have won numerous awards. His club and festival gigs are renowned for being high energy, sweaty and endlessly entertaining.

The brand new album! ‘Taylor Road’ is Kris Pohlmann’s third album, his first as a solo artist. The album features 11 tracks firmly rooted in the 70s blues-rock era.

Having spent 7 years fronting the KRIS POHLMANN BAND, releasing 2 highly acclaimed albums, winning no less than 6 Blues awards in the process and having extensively toured Germany & Netherlands, Kris decided to disband the trio in the summer of 2013. KRIS wanted to form a new band, harder hitting and more rock focused than ever before.

“I found myself listening to more and more rock music and revisiting older demos that I had written over the last 5-10 years, songs that had never developed into album releases because I thought they weren’t right for the KRIS POHLMANN BAND. It was a conscious decision to change direction but a natural musical progression. I needed a fresh challenge, a new direction and wanted to explore my roots.”

The 2nd half of 2013 was spent turning those demos into songs, experimenting with new ideas, writing new material and seeking out the right musicians for the job. For the ‘Taylor Road’ recording sessions KRIS acquired ex-Henrik Freischlader drummer Daniel Guthausen and the young, talented bass player Dennis Bowens to lay down the heavy rhythms. Unlike with previous albums, a more relaxed approach to recording was adopted – the recording process took over half a year with the band focusing on one song at a time. At lot of effort was spent finding the right approach, style and ‘sound’ for each song with the band often re-recording songs until everyone was happy with the song.

“The music on this album feels like it did for me at the beginning of my musical journey. Making this album has made me feel more inspired and motivated to make and perform music than as far back as I can remember. I can’t wait to see where this road takes me.”

The album contains the single ‘One Good Reason’ which early press reviews referred to as “Chris Rea meets ZZ Top”, the title track ‘Taylor Road’ with it’s catchy chorus and pounding shuffle rhythm and one of the heaviest tracks Kris Pohlmann has ever recorded in ‘Used To Be’.

Kris Pohlmann-Konzerte sind eine Garantie für explosiven Blues-Rock. Das neue Album „Taylor Road“ ist sein erstes als Solo-Künstler und verspricht sein bisher rockigstes zu werden. Sieben Jahre lang war Kris Frontmann der Kris Pohlmann Band. In dieser Zeit hat er zwei Alben veröffentlicht, die nicht nur von der internationalen Presse bejubelt, sondern auch mit sechs Blues-Preisen ausgezeichnet wurden. Rockige, rifforientierte Musik, schwer und intensiv, immer dem Blues verpflichtet. Bei seinen Club-Shows und auf Festivals hat er immer wieder bewiesen, dass er das Publikum zum Schwitzen bringt!

Kris Pohlmann hat die Reset-Taste gedrückt und alles zurück auf Start gestellt, um als musikalischer Spätzünder das Bluesrock-Feld möglichst im Schnelldurchgang von hinten aufzurollen. Der Sänger, Gitarrist und Songschmied hat seine Kris Pohlmann Band aufgelöst, das Wort „Band“ aus dem Gruppennamen gestrichen und musikalisch mit seinem dritten Album „Taylor Road“ das Ruder ebenfalls herumgerissen. Der 37-Jährige hat mit Black Penny sein eigenes Label gegründet – und verfolgt ambitionierte Ziele. Als Sohn einer englischen Mutter und eines deutschen Vaters im UK geboren und aufgewachsen, zur Schule gegangen und Informatik studiert. Regelmäßige Besuche bei den Großeltern in Frankfurt, ein Auslandsstudienjahr in Aachen, vor 15 Jahren erster Job als IT-Berater in Düsseldorf, dort (mit englischer Ehefrau) hängengeblieben und als Projektmanager bei einem internationalen IT-Konzern tätig. So liest sich der Lebenslauf des 37-Jährigen in Kürze.

„Mein Vater schenkte mir eine Fender Telecaster von Squier und ich habe jeden Tag nach der Schule gespielt, wie ich es im Titelsong meiner neuen CD ja auch singe: till the fingers bled, bis die Finger bluteten“, blickt Pohlmann im bluesnews-Gespräch zurück. 2006 gründete er die Kris Pohlmann Band, 2009 kam das erstes Album „New Resolution“ heraus und 2012 folgte „One More Sorrow“, ehe Kris Mitte 2013 überraschend das Ende der Formation verkündete. „Nach fünf tollen Jahren der Kris Pohlmann Band habe ich mich entschlossen, in eine neue Richtung zu gehen“, erklärte er. „Vorher war ich der Jüngste in der Band, spielte mit einem 50-jährigen Bassisten und einem 49-jährigen Schlagzeuger. Jetzt habe ich einen 22-jährigen Schlagzeuger und einen 26-jährigen Bassisten, die aber Berufsmusiker sind“, gerät der Frontmann geradezu ins Schwärmen. (…)
