=================================================

Plot or synopsis

Clinging to an unfinished letter written by her recently deceased father, young Momo moves
with her mother from bustling Tokyo to the remote Japanese island of Shio. Upon their arrival,
she begins to explore her new habitat, meeting local children and learning their routines and
customs. However, it's not long before several bizarre occurrences crop up around the previously
tranquil island. Orchards are found ransacked, prized trinkets start disappearing and, worst of
all, each morning after her mother leaves for work, Momo hears strange mumblings coming from
the attic of their home...

Tiberius1332 original Comments(Slightly edited):

Credit for the translation goes to 8thSin. He was kind enough to send me a few script revisions while I
was working on the DVD. I also made a few changes to a couple of lines. The translation was the real work;
so a big thank you to 8thSin. Adding the subtitles to the DVD was the fun part.

Writer/Director Hiroyuki Okiura spent seven years working on this film. The quality of the animation kind
of sneaks up on you in this movie. The setting is an ordinary seaside village in Japan and the level of
detail is amazing.

The movie made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2011. It didn't hit
theaters in Japan until April 21, 2012. GKids aquired the U.S. distribution rights. They ran some special
screenings of the movie in Southern California this month (November) and plan a wider U.S. theatrical
release sometime in 2013.

Please note that I did not set English subtitles to play by default; you will have to turn them on with your
remote control or you can turn them on via the menu.

The original untouched DVD had Japanese subtitles. I kept the Japanese subtitles on the DVD, but they have been
moved track 2. Should you wish to view the Japanese subtitles you will have to use your remote control and switch
them to subtitle track 2. There is also a frontloaded preview that will play as soon as you start the DVD.
I had considered using pgcedit or some other program to set it to go right to the menu, but I didn't want to
mess with the DVD structure too much.

There are not any substantial extras on the DVD, only a couple of trailers and a TV commerical for the movie.
I do recommend checking out the TV commercial. It's the choice on the far right on the menu. It shows some of
the real life locations that the movie setting was based on.
