Woodshed is a high energy country band from the banks of the Arkansas River... Fort Smith to be exact. The band is made up of five members who each bring a unique element to the sound of the band. Many artists including Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Brad Paisley, Alabama, Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bob Seger, as well as many others, were huge influences on the sound origin.
Woodshed started out as a cover band in 2009. While many bands in the area played the blues or rock and roll, Woodshed tried to stay true to their roots, country music. All of the members of Woodshed cut their teeth on traditional country music, so it was an easy decision when it came to choosing songs. In 2012, the band decided it was time to start writing their own music and finding their own sound. Many nights were spent with pen and paper trying to find the right lyrics to capture the audience with pure emotion and everyday events of life. Many of the songs didn’t make the cut and ended up in the bottom of the stack. After about 6 months of writing, the field was narrowed down to ten. Woodshed decided in the fall of 2012 to start recording their first CD which is titled “Country Boy’s Life”. Several of the bands influences played a major part in the development of this album. There are several different styles on the CD, ranging from driving country, to power ballads and even some down-home foot-stompin "Maw and Paw" country, like the song “Southern Skies”. Woodshed was constructed by five unique individuals: Justin Lowder- vocals/lead guitar, Heath Lowder- drums, Matt Burris- bass/vocals, Allen Turner- rhythm guitar/vocals, and Matt Johnson- fiddle/mandolin.
