After many releases of this concert we get yet another one from DAC; it features the Europe tour opening night in Vienna and as many opening night has become some kind of a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of what was in the band s mind for the tour before actual on the road circumstances changed that. This release presents a complete recording of the concert in great quality though in mono with all instruments clearly audible, including the brass section and between songs comments from Jagger therefore it is an interesting release because it features the whole unedited concert.

The show came out on Down in the Graveyard both on vinyl (OBR 93007) and cd (King Snake), on 100 Years Ago which came out first as   1 cd offering a complete audience recording of the event (also on on vinyl) and then as a 2 cd set, remastered called Goodnight Vienna (VGP 009) which was also re-released with 10 additional tracks from the De Doelen rehersals; Hot Lips Records released Welcome Back to Vienna (HLR RS 012). The whole concert can also be found on The Golden Era 69-74 vol.1 (Sodd 092-3) and on Tour 1973 (WLR 2135).

One track (Silver Train) also was released on 100% Odd Lots (VGP 026) then on 100 Years Go both on vinyl (Kam Loon 0501)and cd  (no label) since it was one of the few times this song was played live, as well as 100 Years Ago. Another song can be found on Goat s Head Soup The Real Alternate Album (RTR 035). Two songs (100 Years Ago and Sweet Virginia) can be found on the vinyl Bedrpring 73 I Hear A Symphony TMOQ 34) and on the cd From the Vault (VGP 100) and another two on the vinyl album Down in the Graveyard Where We Had Our Tryst   (TMOQ 33), four on Brussels Affair Definitive Edition (Rattlesnake 15-16) as well as on Brussels Was he Best (TMOQ 33-34). Some years later Exile presented Scream All Night in Vienna (Ex.014-15) that offered a different source but not a much better one and few years ago Godfather Records released Complete 73 Affair (GFR 334-5) claiming it a soundboard, but it was just an audience recording probably taken from the first rows in front of the speakers. And as we said then: performance is certainly not one of the best from the Stones in 1973, as many opening shows the band still hadn’t removed some rust from its playing, but the different set list helps in considering this concert one of the most intriguing ones of the early 70s. Dasuye label just released this concert again calling it Silver Train which presented a truthful document of the night which starts with the complete intro announcement that had a different source as the audience was well audible at songs end. This concert features both Silver Train and All Down the Line two songs that were found to be too similar by the band itself and never played together live again after the first London show less than a week after Vienna. The last two songs seem to come from a different source though. Packaging is as good as ever although I would have preferred a different title and front cover shot, just to differentiate it from all others boots of the same name.
