Post Description

Every so often an album is released that is simply love at first listen. This is one of those rare gems, so sweet and likable that you might wish there were more than eight songs. Led by Stephen Watts' lilting tenor and soprano sax stylings, Dotsero's horn oriented seasonings fall right into the pop jazz mix, a true radio programmer's dream. From the tropical "Pacific Balcony" to the playful "Jazzmanian Folk Dance," these are some of the catchiest tunes in early contemporary jazzdom -- with "Private Thompson" ringing particularly groovy and hooky. Cynics may say that Dotsero's music sounds like all the other MOR NAC product. While it's true that they are not exploring any new and unusual musical ground, they are more than compensating that fact with pure pleasure. Dig the funky African cover art, too. ~ Jonathan Widran
