“Automatic For The People” het achtste album van R.E.M was de waardige opvolger van “Out of Time” en verscheen in 1992. 
Mede dankzij de hit “Everybody Hurts” kwam de plaat in veel landen bovenaan in de hitparades terecht. 
De hits Nightswimming en Man On The Moon bevatten strijkersarrangementen van voormalig Led Zeppelin- bassist John Paul Jones. 
Om de 25e verjaardag van deze klassieker te vieren, is het opnieuw uitgebracht.
