Woodrow Wilson (Woody) Guthrie (Okemah, Oklahoma, 14 juli 1912 - New York, 3 oktober 1967) was een productief en invloedrijk Amerikaans folkzanger, gitarist, banjo- en harmonicaspeler, die een schat aan onder meer liederen, folkgedichten en artikelen naliet. In een van zijn liederen noemde hij zichzelf "The Great Historical Bum"maar hij was ook daadwerkelijk een directe toeschouwer én overlevende van de economische en ecologische rampspoed die de zogenoemde Dust Bowl in de staten van de Great Plains veroorzaakte tijdens de Grote Depressie.
