Post Description

In 1981, Funk Master and Top line producer, the one and only, Norman Whitfield, assembled the finest talent in the land: Taka Boom (vocals) , Joe Harris (vocals), Trey Stone (vocals, guitar) Melvin D. Stewart (vocals/bass guitar), Lloyd Williams (vocals), James R. McKinney (keyboards, trumpet, mini Moog), Ron Artist (keyboards, synthesizer) and Pete Carr (drums and percussion). Dream Machine recorded only one album on RCA, it includes "The Force", "Shakedown" (the first single which was a club hit) and "Dream Machine".
None of the members were spring chickens in the funky soul music business; Joe Harris was a veteran, having sung with the Ohio Players, as well as being one of the few permanent members of the Undisputed Truth. Lloyd Williams and Taka Boom were former Undisputed Truth members too, she had sung on "Method To The Madness" (which included their largest hit "Let's Go Down To The Disco / You + Me = Love"). Trey Stone and Melvin Stewart were also formerly Undisputed Truth musicians. And Trey can also add some other heavy funk merits on his CV; playing on some essential funk like General Caine, Rose Royce, Stargard and Nytro. In 1981, Funk Master and one of my biggest heroes, the one and only, Norman Whitfield, assembled the finest talent in the land: Taka Boom (vocals) , Joe Harris (vocals), Trey Stone (vocals, guitar) Melvin D.
