This is a wonderful record. Blues at it's very finest. Six stars for the performance (Lightnin' has always been one of my favorites). The sound is sometimes a bit distorted, but that's part of the game with many of these older recordings. Audio Fidelity has done a fine job getting so much out of the mastertapes. When audiophile discs get too much, I turn to this...SA-CD.net

Sam “Lightnin’” Hopkins has been called - the last of the Great Blues Singers - a poetic, haunting and unforgettable country blues bard. Recorded at the peak of his career in 1950 and 1952. The 16 selections include his two biggest hits, Hello Central and Coffee Blues.
