Tap & Teach: The Story of Noah’s Ark is a really cool concept for a DS game, in that it is a interactive storybook that also features some basic learning activities.  You’ll need to hold the DS sideways, almost like it’s an open book.  As the story is told on one screen, you can interact with illustrations on the touch screen.  So, by using the stylus, you can touch the flowers, or the various animals, or even find the monkey that seems to pop up on every page.  When you’re done with a page, you simply use the d-pad to turn to the next one.

You can leave the story at any time and bookmark your place, and then there are also a few additional interactive learning activities.  One game works on letter recognition and basic spelling, and another teaches kids how to write their letters.  There are also some music games (like the hippo’s teeth which you can play like a piano) and coloring activities.

We found Tap N’ Teach Noah’s Ark to be very easy-to-play, and thought the game provided excellent verbal instructions for each command and activity.  The interactive story itself proceeds at a nice pace, and the additional learning activities are perfect for youngsters who are just learning to read.  We’d love to see more games like Tap N’ Teach Noah’s Ark.  It’s a perfect DS game for young kids, and can even be enjoyed together with a young one on your lap.
