Post Description
This concert took place on December 31, 1977, 3 dozen years ago today. We’ll start with this show from Eddie Money, our inaugural post from the former Edward Mahoney from Brooklyn NY. Just days before he hit the stage at the Cow Palace for this show, he released his self-titled debut album, which went to #37 on the Billboard charts. The album contained what would become 2 of Eddie’s best known songs, Baby Hold On and Two Tickets To Paradise, which reached #11 and #22 respectively on the charts. (A side note - props to Eddie for his willingness to poke fun at himself in the Geico commercial where he owns a travel agency and makes travel arrangements by singing Two Tickets To Paradise.) One other song from the album also charted in the top 100, a cover of Smokey Robinson’s You Really Got A Hold On Me, which turns up as the 3rd song in Eddie’s Set on New Year’s Eve 1977.
