Post Description

This is Dan Tyminski's first solo album, and with it he continues the tradition of making fine bluegrass music for fans to listen to and thoroughly enjoy. From writing most of the songs, to playing many different instruments, you will be pleased that he has put his touch on almost every aspect of the album.
"Carry Me Across The Mountain" is about facing the hard times head on and not giving up without a faithful fight. If the last hope for anything is across the mountain, then sometimes you have to do things you would not do otherwise. The mother and made it onto the mountain but now as a grown man he has to visit every year so that he can see he mother's grave. Alison Krauss sings vocals and plays the fiddle on this one as if to give us a familiar introduction to Dan as a solo artist instead of being a part of Alison Krauss + Union Station.
An energetic and wonderful tune is found in "Stuck In The Middle Of Nowhere," in which a man feels like he is in-between a rock and a hard place when forced to make an important relationship decision. Later on in the song he says that he wishes he could hold his girl, but the bridges have already been burned. All he can do is yearn as the mandolin solo in the middle of the song acts like the icing on an already tasty cake as we hear its sweet sound.
Dan's brother Stan sings lead vocals too on "I Dreamed Of An Old Love Affair," and his voice sounds eerily like that of Ricky Skaggs'. Both of the brothers sing about a past relationship that was so great that they vow to never forget or stop dreaming about it.
Written solely by Dan, the instrumental "Greens Fees" makes you feel like you have a group of buddies riding around with you while you joke about different things, only the joking is done by the playing of instruments such as guitar, dobro, banjo, mandolin, and guitar.
Alison Krauss re-joins the fun using her voice for "Tiny Broken Heart." In the upbeat tune, we hear about a boy whose hear shattered into a million pieces once he found out that his little sweetheart would be moving away. He then says to his dad that, even though he is seven, he still loves her and wants to buy the house for her family by using the toys he received from Santa and the pennies he had saved up for himself.
Standing out on the album with the addition of a conga and shaker, "Faith Is A Mystery" sends out a beautiful message of always believing in faith, in good times and bad, because something as wonderful as that should always remain true and close to our hearts.
Being the singing voice of George Clooney in "O Brother" introduced us to the greatness that is Dan Tyminski, but "Carry Me Across The Mountain" shows everyone that he is just as great solo as he is with groups such as Union Station or even the "Soggy Bottom Boys."
