Post Description

De Rambo-filmreeks bestaat uit vijf actiefilms, allemaal met Sylvester Stallone in de hoofdrol als John Rambo, een getraumatiseerde Vietnamveteraan en voormalig Special Forces-soldaat. 
De reeks staat bekend om de evolutie van een psychologische thriller naar over-the-top actie. 


Hier is een overzicht van de 5 films in volgorde van uitgave:

1. First Blood (1982)
Verhaal: Rambo zwerft door de staat Washington en wordt onterecht gearresteerd en mishandeld door een lokale sheriff. 
Zijn PTSS (posttraumatisch stressstoornis) wordt getriggerd, waardoor hij ontsnapt en een eenmansoorlog begint in de bossen, achtervolgd door de politie en de Nationale Garde.
Kenmerk: De meest serieuze film, gericht op suspens en het psychologische trauma van veteranen. 

2. Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
Verhaal: Rambo wordt uit de gevangenis gehaald voor een missie: het fotograferen van Amerikaanse krijgsgevangenen (POW's) in Vietnam. 
Wanneer hij wordt verraden door zijn eigen mensen, besluit hij de gevangenen eigenhandig te bevrijden.
Kenmerk: De film die Rambo transformeerde in een 'actie-icoon' en het meest succesvolle deel uit de franchise. 

 
3. Rambo III (1988)
Verhaal: Rambo woont in een boeddhistisch klooster in Thailand. Wanneer zijn voormalige commandant en vriend, 
Kolonel Trautman, gevangen wordt genomen in Afghanistan door Sovjet-troepen, reist Rambo af om hem te redden.
Kenmerk: Destijds de duurste film ooit gemaakt, gericht op grootschalige actiescènes. 

4. Rambo (2008)
Verhaal: Rambo leeft een teruggetrokken leven als slangenjager in Thailand. 
Hij wordt overgehaald om christelijke hulpverleners te helpen in het door burgeroorlog verscheurde Birma (Myanmar) en komt opnieuw in actie wanneer zij worden ontvoerd.
Kenmerk: Geregisseerd door Stallone zelf; staat bekend om de extreme en expliciete gewelddadigheid. 

5. Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Verhaal: Rambo woont op een ranch in Arizona, maar reist naar Mexico om de kleindochter van een vriendin te redden die is ontvoerd door een Mexicaans drugskartel.
Kenmerk: De voorlopig laatste film, die het verhaal afsluit met een focus op een wanhopige, persoonlijke missie.
