This DVD comes from the Stevie Ray Vaughan Box Set released by Capital in 2000. It features an Austin City Limits taping that was never aired or released. The taping took place on October 10th, 1989. 
We get an introduction basically saying that this was a magical evening that no one would forget. 
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble bust right into “May I Have a Talk with You” Stevie whips out his first awesome solo of the night on this hot opener. 
They continue rock out with a raucous cover of Buddy Guy’s “Mary Had a Little Lamb” which was on Stevie’s first album, Texas Flood. The song featured a keyboard solo by Reese Wynans followed by another awesome Stevie solo.
Next song up is “Look at Little Sister.” This was featured on his third studio album, “Soul To Soul.” Best part is during the guitar solo when Stevie breaks a string on his guitar. He takes it off AFTER the solo is over still singing while someone brings him another guitar and he puts it on, still while singing, and continues playing as if the guitar never left him. Simply awesome. Song was pretty short.
The band continues along with the title track from Stevie’s second studio album, “Couldn’t Stand the Weather.” For no reason whatsoever drummer Chris Layton takes a drum solo followed by a bass solo by Tommy Shannon and Reese joins in on the keys while Stevie does a roll call for the band. Stevie decides to join in eventually with his best solo of the night so far, and that’s saying something.
Stevie changes back to his Number One and whips into Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) as the last song of the evening. This is a spot-on cover of Jimi Hendrix’ tune and Stevie recorded it and was released on Couldn’t Stand the Weather. Stevie starts off playing almost note for note what Jimi played on his Electric Ladyland album but of course he adds some Stevie in there too. It was truly a perfect way to end a criminally short set. 
There aren’t any extras because it’s only really the performance, but you do get a listing of the other SRV DVD’s available with brief clips from it playing in the lower right. Other than that there’s pretty much nothing, but you aren’t getting the box set (which this DVD comes from) for DVD extras. 
The disc only runs about half and hour but it’s well worth it. I don’t know if you can even get it any other way besides the box set. If you have the box set you’re enough of a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and the DVD is just a bonus to the awesome three music discs it came with. If you’re a moderate Stevie Ray fan, or you just want to see what all the fuss is about, try and check out this performance, get it on tape from someone it’s definitely worth it. Recommended for at least one viewing.
