DECIDUOUS FOREST - The Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire is one of the few remaining ancient forests in England. Ray visits in the spring when the forest is bursting with life and carpeted with radiant bluebells. He is hoping to see creatures that, until recently, were extinct in this area - the elusive goshawk, the magnificent wild boar and the hazel dormouse.
SHINGLE SHORE - Britain's bird-watching capital is the beautiful North Norfolk coast, where Ray explores the shingle spit that attracts grey and common seals, nesting sand martins and natterjack toads.
