De Steunplaat was de wekelijkse hitschijf die door de NOS op Hilversum 3 in het programma De Avondspits van de legendarische Frits Spits werd gedraaid. Iedere zaterdagavond werd de nieuwe Steunplaat voor de week daarop bekendgemaakt. De steunplaten werden gekozen door presentator Frits Spits en producer Tom Blomberg. Zij kozen altijd hun favoriete nummer. De jingle van de Steunplaat was met een zware stem ingesproken door Felix Meurders: "Steeeeeun.....Steeeeeun..........Plaaaaaaaaaaaat".Er zitten echte pareltjes tussen!!
