Post Description

The 7-piece Gauteng based band recorded the new 11 tracker from May to October this year with producer Glenn Bradford at Tenn Elliot studios in Rynfield Benoni. When asked about the theme of the tracks, Crystal Park commented: “The Stables Fade deals with change, loss, growth and renewal. The songs revolve around old memories of East Rand legends.”
Specific stand-out tracks include ‘Looking for Carter,’ a song about the East Rand Revolt back in the early 1920s; ‘John William Travis’ which harks back to Benoni’s horse-racing and stables heritage; and ‘The Chimes They Are a-Changin’ a Bob Dylan inspired-song about the ups and downs of one of the oldest pubs in Benoni, The Chimes Tavern. Old Benoni relics have also hugely inspired the songs like ‘Luna Plaza,’ ‘We’ve Been Found’ and ‘Rendezvous.’
Crystal Park has also thrown in a few songs about changes in relationships, love and addiction – ‘Walk ‘Away,’ ‘Methadone,’ ‘Lucinda Rain’ and ‘History.’
In addition, Crystal Park also brew their own beer and are currently working on special Luna Plaza Brown Ale in celebration of the upcoming album. It will be the 6th brew the band has made over the last 3 years and you can get your hands on one at Stanley Beer Yard from the 19th of October.
