Net voordat Anne gaat emigreren naar haar grote liefde Sara in Montréal, keurt haar uitgever het manuscript dat ze heeft ingediend voor haar eerste boek af. Wat heeft Anne nou eigenlijk te vertellen? En hééft ze überhaupt wel iets te vertellen? Noodgedwongen gaat Anne op zoek naar wat ze wil in het leven, want niet alleen het hoofdpersonage uit haar boek lijkt te zijn afgedwaald. Dan ontmoet ze de non-binaire Lou die anders in het leven staat. Langzaam vindt Anne al struikelend richting in haar leven. Ze herschrijft haar boek en realiseert zich dat ze keuzes moet maken.
