Post Description
Noah Gundersen describes the writing of the title track to his self-produced album Ledges as “a purifying process” and the summation of “exactly where I was in life, with no real answer, but a declaration of hope and uncertainty.” Playing most of the instruments himself and backed by members of his family — including his sister Abby on violin and backing vocals — the Seattle-based songwriter has created what we’ve described as “a sublime entry into Jackson Browne-styled fusion of folk/rock melody and poetic introspection.” Or as fellow tunesmith Brett Dennen puts it: “The songs he sings are the life you want to live.” Brought up in a strict religious household where Bon Dylan’s “gospel” albums were a major influence, the 24-year-old now looks at life with a less orthodox and more personal outlook on family, faith, relationships and redemption. And, surprisingly perhaps, sex and sensuality on tracks like “Isaiah” with the opening line “crawl into my skin and I’ll crawl into yours.” Click through to stream the title track and watch a live version of “Cigarettes.”
