Post Description
Celia Cruz was one of the most important voices in salsa music, and her passing in 2003 was mourned by Latin music lovers everywhere. This CD includes 14 songs by the legendary singer, along with a documentary about her life and times, a photo gallery, and four of her most eye-catching videos.
The CD is comprised of both traditional salsa recordings and more pop-oriented tracks. The latter are best epitomized by "La Negra Tiene Tumbao." Although this catchy tune still features lots of authentic Latin percussion and horn riffs, what distinguishes it from the salsa songs is the use of a heavy backbeat and a rap bridge. Interestingly, Cruz's duet with pop icon Gloria Estefan ("Tres Gotas de Agua Bendita") is far more traditional, and Estefan proves here that she can stand toe to toe with the Queen of Salsa. (In fact, Estefan's sultry voice complements Cruz's huskier tone.) With its high-energy tracks, RESUMEN MUSICAL showcases the charisma and sheer vocal power of this beloved vocalist.
