Post Description

This release is a must for any serious fan or collector of SCAC. If only for the live dvd, capturing a late era live document of this band, after decades of legendary live greatness. Shot at The Lion's Lair in 2012 it is not exactly what the band has previously shown themselves capable of in terms of otherworldy intensity and tight rather possesed showmanship - but still it's better than most things you are likely to ever see live, so.. All in all.. better late than never in that account.

As for the compilation CD part of this release, it strikes me as a somewhat odd mix. This is a band that is next to impossible to compile a greatest hits from, but if you try, and i you decide to skip the first few line-ups and the first album, you still need to consider what songs are to be regarded as the truest and most loved staples. Not in a live set mind you - the dvd is suppose to take care of that part, and as a collection this release would benefit from as few overlaps as possible. But this is not how it's done. The CD might be considered a song or two short and bit too slim(!) in terms of material from the first Munly era release, Always Say Please and Thank You and/or any unreleased rare gems. Instead the set is rather heavy on the last two albums' slick sound and rerecordings (why?) of a big chunk of the Blovdy TT Peace material. No matter where you come from to this band, a few of your favorites will be missing and nothing (save for said rerecordings) of true excitement is to be found. This release proves the obvious, a greatest hits disc with this band in its many guises can't be done. Still many good songs.
