Royal Parks is Diederik Nomden’s solo venture. After performing in various outfits over the years, he decided in the spring of 2010 it was about time to get working on his own material. Actually, it was former Johan band mate Jacob de Greeuw who finally threw him in at the deep end.​

 Nomden spent the rest of 2010 writing and recording rough demos, while De Greeuw was called upon to shape and polish what would be the songs for Royal Parks' debut album.
