Waxahatchee is a band from Alabama, recently relocated to Philadelphia, PA who formed in 2012.  Waxahatchee features singer/songwriter Katie Crutchfield who previously played in P.S. Elliot with her twin sister as well as a slew of other band's including Bad Banana and the Ackleys.  Last year, Katie Crutchfield began playing mostly stripped down acoustic indie music as Waxahatchee and released American Weekend, which got lots of praise and accolades on numerous blogs.  I'm a bit late to the game and only began listening to Waxahatchee a few months ago after picking up American Weekend on a whim.  That album was really good on its own merit, but did not prepare me for what I heard on Cerulean Salt.  On their latest LP, Katie Crutchfield and her accompanying band build on the foundation set on American Weekend, but only as a beginning point of reference.  On Cerulean Salt, the band plugs in the amps and add a lo-fi, fuzzy, 90's indie rock sound to the music, which really suits the band well.  A good way for me to describe this album would be for you to picture the lead singer of Des Ark fronting 90's indie bands like Velocity Girl or maybe Rainer Maria.  Overall, Cerulean Salt makes for a well put together collection of songs that are energetic, sincere, and catchy as hell.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
