'The Kansas Sessions' is the fourth album from acclaimed UK singer-songwriter Kirsty McGee. A maker of delicate songs - years spent homeless and as a hitchhiker enriched Kirsty McGee's writing, and earned her a reputation as one of the most respected songwriters of her generation. Her songs, sung by a voice just that little bit too pure to have seen what she has seen, have been variously described as "folk noir" and "hobopop".

McGee's emergence as a unique voice in acoustic music has resulted in two BBC Folk Award nominations (Best Newcomer, Best Original Song), and her three albums were made with some of the most important producers in the scene, John Wood (Nick Drake, Fairport Convention), Boo Hewerdine (Eddi Reader), and Neill MacColl (Kathryn Williams).
'The Kansas Sessions' was recorded in the USA with maverick songwriter/producer Mike West of Truckstop Honeymoon. With the addition of more politicised material, her trademark sound of setting edgy grooves against tender yet dark textures has grown in scope, encompassing a 'vaudebilly' style - with banjo, double bass, clarinet, trombone - taking this batch of American-inspired songs back to their roots.
