Plot De twaalfjarige Tui Mitcham (Jacqueline Joe) is vijf maanden zwanger. Aan detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) de taak om erachter te komen van wie. Veel potentiele daders zijn er niet, want het Nieuw Zeelandse dorpje Laketop kent meer bomen dan inwoners. Tui s drugsdealende vader Matt (Peter Mullan) maakt al gelijk een verdachte indruk. Niet in de laatste plaats omdat hij een ruzie om een stuk land met de symbolische naam Paradise zo uit de hand laat lopen dat eigenaar Bob Platt (Darren Gilshenan) overlijdt.

A twelve year old girl stands chest deep in a frozen lake. She is five months pregnant, and she wont say who the father is, insisting it was no one. Then she disappears. Robin Griffin, the investigating detective, will find this the case that tests her to her limits. In the search for Tui she will first have to find herself.

Directed by Jane Campion, and written by Jane Campion and Gerard Lee. It is a multi part serial for BBC Two
