So that’s the good news – Y Gwyll (it’s Welsh-language name) will be back for a one-off special on New Year’s Day. The bad news (if you’re not in Wales) is that this new episode won’t air on BBC4 until, presumably, a later date. But all is not lost – yo ‘ll be able to watch it (with English subtitles) on the S4C Clic site (here) or on BBC iPlayer. It’ll be available to watch on 1st January at 9am (this may actually be 9pm, but on the site it says that it’s 9.00).

Troubled hero DCI Mathias returns to the front-line in this brand new episode. Faced with a suspected arson attack, Mathias is drawn into a community riven by old feuds and bitter jealousies. A story of heartbreak and loss, but for Tom Mathias, will it offer a new beginning?

Sounds like a perfect start to the New Year to us. A new, full second series will follow in later in the New Year.
