Steinar Raknes is among Norway's premier jazz bassists and song writers. He has a fearless and explosive style of playing and is often compared to the legendary bassist and composer Charles Mingus. Raknes is among other things known for collaborating with Chick Corea in Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, and from Urban Connection, The Core, Ola Kvernberg Trui and SKAIDI. His latest release, STILLHOUSE hit the shelves in May 2012 and represents Steiner Raknes´ debut as a vocalist, accompanying himself on double bass. Both on record and onstage, he has made an outstanding expression and plays his self-composed music and cover songs in the Americana tradition.
