The Innocent Man The Innocent Man S1 - E4 In 2010 publiceerde Grisham het misdaadverhaal The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town, dat voor grote opschudding in de VS zorgde. Gedeeltelijk omdat Amerikanen voornamelijk fictie gewend waren van de auteur, maar ook omdat het waargebeurde verhaal enorm bizar is. ''If I wrote The Innocent Man as a novel, folks probably wouldn’t believe it'', zegt de auteur. Zowel het boek als de serie vertelt het verhaal van Ron Williamson, die op weg is naar een glansrijke carrière als honkbalspeler op het hoogste niveau. Maar zijn droom op professioneel honkballer ging niet zoals gepland en daardoor komt hij in tegenstelling tot The American Dream in een spiraal vol drank en drugs terecht. Bij voldoende interesse volgt steeds meer.
